Paul Wurth technology part of agreement between SMS group and MMK

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by SMS group and Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) earlier this week sets the stage for further developments in mutual cooperation in the development and use of decarbonization technologies that could reduce – potentially to zero – CO2 emissions.

As part of the MoU, both parties to the agreement – which is valid for five years from the date of initialing – agreed that boosting measures to protect the climate are essential. Paul Wurth will be a strategic partner in the analysis of decarbonization of ironmaking.

Paul Wurth is already involved with MMK in the construction of their new blast furnace no. 11 – an enhanced, modern facility.

Paul Wurth is an SMS group company. Together, we are able to offer a full package of decarbonization and related technologies – calling on our full range of products and services is a strategic advantage for customers seeking to build and maintain the most globally competitive production chains.

SMS group is actively and deeply involved in the development of technologies that help ferrous metallurgy businesses to achieve ambitious environmental protection goals – both now and in the long term.
