Considering the very strict environmental regulations sinterplant operators have to face, Paul Wurth has developed a unique technology for sintering off-gas cleaning, promoted under the brand name Paul Wurth EFATM .
Using an Entrained Flow Absorber as the main technological unit, the innovative EFA technology allows the treatment of the flue gas from sintering iron ore concentrates for blast furnaces and performs:
- Desulphurization;
- Elimination of hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids;
- Removal of dioxins and furans;
- Secondary gas cleaning (dust removal).
EFA technology is characterized by low process temperature, high recirculation rates, comparatively low specific consumption of the reagents, moderate investment cost, and can easily be added to existing sinterplants. The clean gas released to the atmosphere via a stack conforms by far to the most stringent environmental conditions.
