ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT (TMT*)

Paul Wurth has extensive experience in the design of modern, highly functional casthouses – whether for new furnaces or for existing plant modernization.

Major features of Paul Wurth Casthouse design:

  • Ramp access from grade and to the tuyere access platform
  • Flat casthouse floor for optimum maintenance, hygiene and safety
  • Fume and dust collection technologies for strict environmental compliance
  • Trough and runner design for secure operation and cost effectiveness
  • Trough and runner covers for safety, access, hygiene, etc.
  • Main trough – convection air cooled; exchangeable – as an option
  • Tilting runners for flexibility, simplified operation and reduced runner length

    Casthouse Equipment:
Paul Wurth recommends and uses world-class equipment from its affiliated company TMT Tapping Measuring Technology, a joint company of Dango-Dienenthal & Paul Wurth. Paul Wurth works with its colleagues at TMT and with the client to achieve the optimum casthouse layout for the application.

    TMT’s casthouse equipment range includes:

  • Hydraulic claygun
  • Taphole drill (hydraulic or pneumatic operation; soaking bar capability)
  • Claygun filling machine
  • Taphole drill automatic bar loader
  • Jack clam drill
  • Sampling devices
  • Runner cover manipulators
  • Tilting Runners & drives
  • Torpedo ladle level measurement systems

Clayguns and taphole drills can be mounted on opposite sides of the taphole/main trough but significant benefits can be realised with ‘same-side’ installation (i.e. improved taphole and trough maintenance access; improved tapping area fume/dust control; etc.)
