CENTRALIZED SUPERVISION AND
OPTIMISATION OF COKE OVEN PLANT
"SUPRACOK"

Automation and Control System
The advanced automation and control system “Centralized Supervision and Optimization of Coke Oven Plant” has the following main targets:

  • reduction of environmental emissions
  • constant coke quality
  • reduction of fuel consumption
  • increase of coke battery life
  • production improvement

  • Coke Production Control
    The main functions of the system, which fully integrates pushing/charging schedule and battery thermal control with the machine on-board automation, are the following:

  • Centralized coke oven plant supervision: providing the operator in the coke oven plant central control room with the possibility to monitor and control all the battery equipment.
  • Calculation and generation of scheduling of pushing/charging times on the basis of production requests, taking into account planned and unplanned production delays and possible ovens out of cycle.

  • Battery Thermal Control
    The thermal flow rate to be supplied to the battery is calculated through a thermal balance starting from:
  • production requirements (planned coking time);
  • coal data (moisture and volatile matter content);
  • process measurements.

  • Feedback corrections are performed on the basis of actual coking times and battery temperatures monitoring the distillation process through the evolving raw gas temperature.
    The resulting control set-points are combustion gas flow rate and change-over variable pause.

    Machines Coordination
  • Coordination of machines pushing/charging, allowing to perform machines operation automatically (or by an operator guide), tightly integrated with the monitoring of distillation progress function.

  • Reporting
  • Data storing and reporting of main process and production information and communication with local computer.
