Genova, 29 April 2008. In the context of the rebuild of its BF4 in Piombino Works, Italy, Lucchini S.p.A.awarded Paul Wurth Italia S.p.A. on 13th March 2008 an order for basic engineering and the supply of carbon materials for the hearth, including detail and construction engineering, performance tests and site supervision.
Paul Wurth’s basic engineering scope includes in particular:
- BF relining;
- Cooling elements including detail engineering;
- Definition of the technological aspects of the furnace;
- Blast Furnace Cooling system with external water circuit;
- Structural interventions on shell and new bottom plate;
- Electro-instrumental equipment in BF area;
- Automation and control system.
The reconstruction of the blast furnace is planned for the second half of 2009.
