Luxembourg, 28 May 2008. The Iron & Steel Technology Conference and Exposition took place at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 5 – 8, 2008. This major international conference gave the opportunity to Paul Wurth to deliver technical papers which had been prepared together with some of its customers. Two papers were related to major projects realized some months ago.
Bruce Edwards from Paul Wurth Canada, together with Mr Art Cheng and Mr Stuart Street of Severstal North America, has explained how the “C” Blast Furnace at Dearborn Works, Michigan has been rebuilt and how the targeted performances have been reached. Lionel Hausemer of Paul Wurth Luxembourg and Bill Ebner of Paul Wurth Inc. contributed as co-authors.
Dr. Franz Reufer, Managing Director of Paul Wurth Umwelttechnik, presented a joint paper with Dr. Walter Hartig, Dillinger Hütte, as co-author about the new waste gas treatment facility which has been erected and commissioned at Rogesa’s sinterplant No.3.
Finally, Patrick C. Guillaume, Senior Vice President at Paul Wurth Luxembourg, has described the most recent development the Group has made in the area of EAF dust recycling, allowing the recovery of the valuable metals contained, among which zinc under metallic form. Jean-Luc Roth and Gaspar Devos of Paul Wurth Luxembourg contributed as co-authors.
