NLMK will install PCI Plants

Luxembourg, 22 January 2007. In the frame of their modernisation programme OAO “Novolipetskij metallurgicheskij kombinat? (NLMK), Lipetsk/Russia, awarded Paul Wurth S.A., Luxembourg, with an order for engineering a plant for generation and injection of pulverized coal for the blast furnaces No. 3, 4 and 5 at their Lipetsk works.

Paul Wurth will also deliver key components to a large extend, including 2 vertical roller mills, 3 injection plants with static distribution of the pulverized coal over the tuyeres of the furnaces as well as the complete control and automation system of the PCI plant.

The blast furnaces 3, 4 und 5 are actually producing about 15000 tons of hot metal per day, thus representing 60% of the hot metal capacity at Lipetsk.

The project will be executed in close cooperation with local engineers, equipment suppliers, construction and erection companies.

Commissioning of the plant is scheduled for spring 2009. It will be the first full-scale industrial plant of this kind on the territory of the Russian Federation.
