PAUL WURTH TECHNOLOGY TO EQUIP
ANGANG BLAST FURNACES

Luxembourg, 8 December 2005. On 4 December 2005, Angang Group New Iron & Steel Co. (Anshan) has successfully blown-in its new No. 2 blast furnace, for which the Paul Wurth Group provided most performing equipment and technology. With a hearth diameter of 12.4 m and an effective volume of 3200 m3 (from max. charging level to the taphole), the new blast furnace has a production capacity of 2.5 Mio t hot metal/year.

The orders placed in 2003 with Paul Wurth S.A. Luxembourg, Paul Wurth Metal Technology Beijing and Paul Wurth Umwelttechnik Essen comprised the engineering, supply of key components and site supervision for a central feed Bell Less Top® charging system, an INBA® slag granulation system, a gas cleaning system and a pulverized coal injection system. Contracts on the same scope for BLT®, INBA® and gas cleaning have been awarded to the Paul Wurth Group for the construction of two further blast furnaces by Angang (BF3 & BF4), the start-up of BF3 being scheduled to take place in December 2005.
